THE CUSTOMER 

Our customer is among others a world leading company within sealing applications. Their “Seals Division” has been a leading developer, manufacturer, and global supplier of precision-engineered seals for more than 50 years. 

Our customer supplies into a variety of industries including automotive, aerospace, and semiconductor. Our customer supplies both standard and custom designed sealing solutions worldwide.

THE CHALLENGE

Our customer wanted to optimize and consolidate their production facilities into fewer business units and concentrate on the core value adding delivery “development and manufacturing” of seals. In this process they decided that one of their production units which also included manufacturing of tube, rod and guiding elements, should be discontinued and moved to other sites. All sealing machining equipment was moved, however, they could not find a solution to run the tube, rod and guiding element production, on another internal location. 

Key challenge was to find a solution on the tube, rod and guiding element production and thereby realize all cost benefits and at the same time not weaken their position in the market.

SOLUTION AND BENEFITS

Solution: Acoplastic took over the production of tubes, rods and guiding elements, and is now delivering to 6 different entities in the customer’s “Sealing Division”.

Benefits: The customer could fully capitalize on their optimization and consolidation project and at the same time have a non-competing skilled partner with sufficient capacity to manufacture tubes, rods and guiding elements based on their recipes and specifications.
